Rabbi Jan is available to work with individuals and groups in order to become prepared to participate in a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Regardless of your Hebrew skills or observational status, we can work together to bring you to be able to participate in this most ancient rite, enabling you to chant from the Torah, write and present a D’var Torah/commentary, and lead a Friday night or Saturday morning service.
The B’nai Mitzvah can take place either in a synagogue, or at the location that makes the most sense for you; for example, she has led B’nai Mitzvoth in tented backyards, living rooms, and community halls.
Great sensitivity is essential for interfaith families and guests, and all materials will be translated and transliterated, so that people who have no Hebrew skills will be able to participate in the religious services. Similarly, roles for interfaith family’s members will be available.
“I don’t know how to thank you for your tutoring, guiding and mentoring my daughter. I was so proud of her, thanks to you. Your patience, and loving ‘mothering’ was just what she needed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” – D.B.
